Kanha National Park

Kanha Tiger Reserve, also known as Kanha National Park, is one of the tiger reserves of India.

The largest national park of Madhya Pradesh.

Kanha has a rich variety of animals. Over 22 species of mammals across 940 square kilometers can be discovered, and it is home of the majestic Bengal tigers. The park populates a significant amount of Indian leopards, sloth bears, and Indian wild dogs.

Only to be seen in Kanha is the Baransingha, also called the swamp deer, which sadly is on the list of endangered species. Fondly called “the  Pride of Kanha”, the swamp deer differs from all the Indian deer species in that the antlers carry more than three tines. Because of this distinctive character it has been named Barasingha, meaning "twelve-tined”.

The tiger is the star attraction of the park and with more than 33 tigers (and counting) a wonderful opportunity for adventurers and nature lovers to get a glimpse of this majestic cat. The wide open grassy meadows, the evergreen fauna, thick bamboo and beautiful fresh water ways, give these beautiful predators the perfect habitat to live and hunt.

Of course there is never a 100% guarantee on a tiger sighting, but even if you are out of luck for the day on this one, the park still promises a large variety of mammals, birds and reptiles, as well as an undenying beauty, which you most likely have not encountered before.

Do carry a Binocular! Kanha has a wide variety of rare and migratory birds. With patience and  a little bit of luck you can sight birds such as the Asian Paradise Flycatcher, White Rumped Shama, White Bellied Drongo, and the Spangled Drongo. To spot them in the lush green forest will give you another visual treat.

If this little introduction of one of the most beautiful places on this planet has inspired you to come out here and see it for yourself, then I would be more than happy to guide you through your tour into this beautiful and fascinating wilderness.

Come join me on a trip that you are not likely to forget (ever!) and that will open not only your eyes, but your mind and your heart alike.

I am ready...are you? :) Jhariya Safaris, Kanha
